Many assume flight attendants primarily serve meals and collect trash. In truth, their core mission is safety. They act as the captain’s eyes and ears throughout the cabin, scanning for hazards, assisting during abnormalities, and coordinating responses.
They are trained to recognize medical issues, smoke, unusual sounds, and passenger distress. Regular check-ins with the cockpit—often at least once an hour—keep information flowing. That vigilance forms an invisible safety net, letting passengers settle in and enjoy the ride.
