When finished, the building, which was designed by Chicago's Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill Architecture, will be the first in the world to reach a height of one kilometre at 3,308 feet. The tower was initially intended to be constructed to a staggering 1.6 km in height, but it was decided against it in order to preserve the local geology.
