When the parts were reassembled, scientists discovered a sixteen-inch-tall, roughly 1,800-year-old clay jar. One of the vessel's distinctive features is the numerous tiny, circular holes throughout it. Since there isn't another vessel like it in the globe, scholars are baffled by the vessel. There are several theories about this hollow vase. Some say the Romans used it as a lamp, while others think it held nibbles or mice.
